Experience Compression

We can no longer rely on time and circumstance to build leaders. With turnover and growth, many agencies face a new reality: good people with compressed development timelines are stepping into critical roles. Firefighters with three years on the job are the “senior” member.  Promotional lists being exhausted. Chief officers with limited time in the right seat are leading shifts and managing complex programs.  Great people but the system hasn't caught up to the new paradigm.
